Drawing Classes - Creative Fundamentals

This is a unique opportunity to learn from an artist of exceptional quality and depth of experience. 

This class is for artists of all abilities - students are tutored on an individual basis according to their stage of development.

This general drawing class will suit both the absolute beginner through to the more advanced student.

Working through a range of subject matter, students will be introduced to a variety of materialsand techniques and then apply them to produce finished works of art.

 

Each week new techniques will be introduced allowing students to investigate and be inspired by new methods, whilst building on the repertoire of previous weeks experience.

students will explore such mediums as pencil, charcoal and ink with variations with application techniques and investigate other experimental processes including mixed media. Students will also have the opportunity to work on coloured grounds

Key elements of the course will include

1 .explore and apply imaginative approaches to observing and drawing a variety of forms from life

2. Select and use appropriate media and techniques in drawing

3. Realise finished works of art

4. Expand and explore individual creativity

More experienced artists will receive personalised guidance in an area of interest.

Topics Covered
In each class a drawing technique will be demonstrated the group.  Topics covered include:

composition, 
tone, 
perspective,
foreshortening
line drawing and 
tonal drawing


An examination of art history will focus on drawing through the ages from pre- history through to contemporary art practice, such that the student can place their own work in a historical context.

 

Choice of Subject

Students may draw and from life, still-life or from photographic material.   For students wishing to draw the human figure a live model will be used from time to time.

Finally, the student will be invited to exhibit their work in a gallery
