University Entry with Certificate or Diploma Qualifications
If you didn’t get the marks you wanted to enter University then an art course at Sydney Art School could be for you.
Most Australian Universities recognise completed Certificate IV, Diploma & Advanced Diploma qualifications that have been awarded under the Australia Qualifications Framework.
Sydney Art School has had many graduates use qualifications to gain places in Bachelor level courses at Australian Universities.

In addition, most Australian universities will also give course credits or “Advanced Standing” based on your qualification.
Course credit agreements need to be negotiated on an individual basis. If you are entering a course in the same or a related discipline, the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) recommends using the following as the basis of negotiations:
- 50% credit for an Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree linked to a 3 year Bachelor Degree
- 37.5% credit for an Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree linked to a 4 year Bachelor Degree
- 33% credit for a Diploma linked to a 3 year Bachelor Degree
- 25% credit for a Diploma linked to a 4 year Bachelor Degree

The table below shows a sample of major Australian Universities and their support for entry into undergraduate degrees courses based on an AQF Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma Qualification.

University of Sydney
Applicants who have completed a Diploma in Australia with an average pass result (or overall result of Competent) can apply to courses with an ATAR up to 75. Applicants who have completed an Advanced Diploma in Australia with an average pass result (or overall result of competent) can apply to courses with an ATAR up to 76.

Competency based qualifications may be considered for admission to programs with a lowest selection rank of 80
